Cabinet hardware can go a long way in capturing the style of your space. Change your hardware can drastically update the look of older cabinets. The hardware selection can help to define the tone and overall theme you are trying to accomplish. It’s diversity in choices makes updating the look of your kitchen convenient in the future as well.
The flexibility in choices allows for you to mix up the hardware styles and functions of your cabinets. For example one option is to install knobs at all doors and install pulls at drawers. Another option for installation would be to install knobs at all upper cabinets and pulls at all lower cabinets.
Hardware selections are available in a variety of different styles accented by decorative or minimal details in brushed, polished, or distressed finishes. The shape and finish of your selection gives your cabinetry an authentic look.
Among the most popular hardware options, here is a list of options that I recommend to clients:
Circular knobs are a traditional look that will never go out of style. This style has the most options available in many sizes, finishes, and materials. Brushed or satin nickel and stainless steal finishes are commonly used. Glass or ceramic knobs add a vintage touch and can show high contrast at cabinet fronts.
Bar pulls add a contemporary accent with an angular edge. Bar pulls give a modern sleek look to the space and are available in various lengths and finishes.
Barrel Pulls have a hanging effect, lifting upwards and pulling the drawer open. These pulls are accents with visible hinges, and are available in nickel, brushed, and stainless steel finishes to choose from.
Vintage Bin Pulls are metal drawer accents commonly seen in Shaker style or country cottage/farmhouse. Typically seen in nickel, chrome, or antique brass finishes.
